Creating a fashion magazine is more than just having pretty visuals– it is a delicate balance between aesthetics and readability. With my magazine about Lolita fashion, a feminine alternative fashion originating from Japan, I wanted to push the boundaries of this balance for a design that was bold but still functional. I conveyed alternative fashion's innovative, unconventional spirit while enhancing a viewer’s understanding through visuals and writing. Photoshop was heavily utilized to create the photo collages across the spreads. While researching and writing the body text, I considered the target audience of younger, fashion-savvy teens and adults. I also maintained consistency in paragraphs and subheaders so the reader could expect what would come next and where to find specific information.
